Bear Paw Scout Camp
In addition to rustic campsites, Bear Paw has several permanent buildings supporting its program areas, a well-stocked trading post for snacks and memorabilia, a spacious chapel on a wooded point overlooking the water, a large and modern dining hall providing the camaraderie of communal meals, a lakeside fire circle for evening council fires and ceremonies, and a nine-hole disc golf course. Hiking trails range from short, in-camp jaunts to destinations such as Explorer Point to longer treks to Oconto County features such as Lost Mountain, Staff Mountain, and Waupee Falls. Marked cycling trails up to 50 miles long criss-cross the peaceful forest roads in the vicinity of camp.
Camp Hiawatha provides a patrol style camping experience. Amenities include eight camping sites that can accommodate forty to eighty campers depending on the site. Each site has flush toilets, patrol shelters and a central fire ring. A shower house with ten stalls including handicap accessibility is also available. Scouts camping at Camp Hiawatha have the opportunity to experience the outdoors and appreciate its bounties by sleeping in tents, cooking and eating meals in the outdoor setting, exploring the many nature trails, watching the loons swim about the lake with their chicks, or watching the grand night skies. The opportunity to learn and apply outdoor skills helps to reinforce the “Outing” of Scouting.
Gardner Dam Scout Camp
Gardner Dam Scout Camp offers the opportunity for camping and program on two sides of the Wolf River which runs through the center of camp! Two suspension bridges link our camp together! The weekly program offers campfires, a First Year Camper Program for new Scouts, a variety of merit badges and High Adventure activities for all Scouts. The emphasis is on the patrol method as each Troop works with their patrols to build a stronger more productive Unit. Because of the Gardner Dam’s unique terrain and the proximity to the Wolf River, area lakes, DNR trails, National Forrest trails and other recreational areas, the opportunity exists to experience a variety of high adventures activities.
